Transition Town Powell River and Vancouver Island University…
…invite everyone working in areas related to sustainability, climate change response, reducing carbon emissions, resource conservation, resilience-building, rebuilding skills for self-reliance, economic re-localisation, etc. and covering topics like food, transportation, housing, energy and more…
…to join us at VIU on Thursday, Feb 25th at 6:30 pm for:

Rebuilding Regional Resilience – a Roundtable.

The purpose of this event is:
  • To discover and document as many groups and projects as possible in Powell River in areas related to sustainability, climate change response, reducing carbon emissions, resource conservation, resilience-building, rebuilding skills for self-reliance, economic re-localisation, etc. covering topics like food, transportation, housing, energy and more.
  • To find out what’s not being done, and identify where the gaps are
  • To make connections between groups and projects who could collaborate or share resources.
Many people and groups in Powell River are working very hard on projects in these areas. Many of us know about each other – but sometimes, surprisingly, we don’t, especially when it comes to new groups or new projects.

How will it benefit you to attend this event?

  • Find other groups working in your area of interest which you could co-operate or collaborate with
  • Discover resources which may be available to you that could make your work easier, faster or more efficient
  • Identify gaps where existing resources could be used to fill needs
  • Network with other energetic, committed people working on compatible projects and get all fired up all over again!

Who is invited?

Everyone working locally on projects related to the areas listed above, including:
  • Community groups
  • Governments
  • Educational institutions
  • Businesses and business organizations
  • Health organisations and institutions
  • Individuals and ad-hoc project teams
Paul Schachter will be facilitating this event, and all results will be recorded and published online, where participants can use the information, add to it, and update it as projects, contacts and needs change.
We hope to see you on the 25th!

P.S. The day and time of this event is set so that people can travel to and from it by bus, and so that Texada attendees can make the 9:10 ferry home.
